Asuwagu Bola Tinubu Stormed out for the less privilege children. No fewer than 259 physically-challenged children of Modupe Cole Memorial Home Yaba and Bethesldar Home for the blind on Tuesday smiled and relished in the company of the former Lagos state Governor Asiwaju Bola Tinubu who celebrated his birthday with the physically-challenged children, speaking at the event put together by Conference of Local Government Chairmen of Lagos state.
Tinubu, who was flanked by his wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, blamed the situation that resulted in the inherent challenges faced by the children on lack of compassionate leadership, assuring the children that he will ensure that their needs are met in the state.
There he said, “Let me thank the principal for her dedication . I say thank you on behalf of the children. What is wrong with our country is lack of compassionate leaders . Some of these children were abandoned and left to die and we picked many from dustbins and some were given to Modupe Cole”.
Along the line, the Chairman, Conference of Local Government Chairmen, Sulaiman Akeem, said the council leaders were motivated to donate the items on behalf of Tinubu to the less privileged because they felt that the best way to celebrate a great icon was not by wining and dining.
The items donated to the physically challenged children worth over N30 million includes cartons of cornflakes, milk custard, cartons of morning fresh soap, cartons of St Louis sugar, cartons of Hollandia milk, cartons of indomie, bags of rice and bean and groundnut oil and many other items.
